- Imperial Slate is an extra thick ceramic roofing tile that has
the depth, stratification and patina of natural mined slate. But as
a clay tile, glazed and fired at over 2100'F in the Ohio studios of
Ludowici, it is substantially lighter, less brittle, and easier to
install than convential slate. Imperial Slate is warranted to work
beautifully for 75 years after installation. Available in Dover
Gray and Highland Green. Imperial Slate from Ludowici is the slate
alternative to which there is no alternative.
